Hello. I am in Chicago. Most blazers are rusty. I found a gentlemen selling his 1991 for 10k.
He has had it 14 years and put lots of time and money resorting it.

He put sound dampening under the bed, took out all the rust except 1 bubble on the door, the interior looks great, I don’t care for his aftermarket wheels but he has the original ones.

It comes with the hard top and a nice canvas soft-topper. The frame has been coated with rust protectant. The back window rolls up but slowly. He raptor lined the entire body so it won’t get chopped or scratched - but I don’t like the color, gray-ish. It has like 160k on it. He has paperwork on the rebuilt trans.

It’s pretty clean and I think a good deal, but I’m not an expert. I had a 1988 and didn’t know how much they are worth until mine got totaled and I’ve been after one ever since.

I want to offer $8,500 but I doubt he’d take it, he has sentimental value with it. Also, can anyone tell me how to upload media? I’m lost with that.

What do you guys think?

The price sounds good and if it's mostly rust free that's fantastic but painting the exterior with bedliner is a deal breaker for me on any vehicle. A lot of people like the bedliner on the exterior but all I see is possible long term issues - it's difficult to remove if you don't like it or want to change, if it fades you cannot easily repaint it, etc.

Agree, if he "fixed rust" and its bedlined stay away from it. Bedliner hides a multitude of sins. Im also leary of the frame being coated with "rust protectant" like oil/wax? or rubberizied undercoating? If its the latter all that does is trap moisture and cause rot faster.

I saw a video of a guy where his offroad trailer frame was coated with POR15, on the exterior it looked perfect, inside the frame rotted away and broke in half on him on the road.

Being thats a rust prone state, it might have more rust than what appears or what he claims to have fixed. I would look more closely at the common areas which are behind the rear tires, on bed floor in front of tailgate, side panels on rear passenger footwell area, rockers. Like others have said, the bed liner really kills the deal for most. It hides much of the rust and very difficult to remove. If you go to re-sell it, that will bring down the value alone. Most K5's I have restored usually have 10-15k into them and that includes the cost of the K5, paint/body and interior. If you can score a decent one for around 10k or less with good paint, then you'll be good. In this case, the bedliner really brings down the value. If you like the bedliner and planning to keep it, then offer 8500 but I would have someone inpect it that really knows these K5s and common rust areas. Feel free to PM and I can tell you exactly where to look and it always helps having a friend to point out other flaws that you may miss.

I agree with the others, the bedliner ruined it. All bedliner products fade and chalk out, some worse than others. Its almost impossible to remove and basically can't be painted over. The truck probably has rust issues and/or bad bodywork underneath which is why it got bedliner. Pass on this one.

$10K is a good budget for a K5, keep looking, you can find a good one.
