Hi All,

Question for you K5 Experts. I have the opportunity to buy the whole rear body of a 78 K5 in perfect Condition for $300.00. It was cut at about the center of the rocker area so come with the pillars in tact which is part of what I need.

I have a 75K5 whose rear half is in very poor condition and I want to know what you guys thought of as my options. Both my quarters are riddled with crappy bondo filled holes and some pretty bad welding. My Floor pan is OK but does have alot of surface rust.

The Guy selling it suggests that Cutting my blazer at the front of the Bed and then welding this one in it's place is an easy job and would be my best bet.

I do not know nearly enough about welding to determine weather this is a good idea or is even possible.

Can you guys give me some feedback on where I should go with this?

I see these options.

1. Cut the whole back half off and graft this one on.
2. Cut the pieces that I need only and use them as patch panels.

Thanks

J

Seeing as you are in cali, I would just find a better tub to work with if the current one is bad.

Anyway to get pics so we could see what you have to work with?

didn't we just go thru this a couple weeks ago?

Hey ryoken, yes we did but I could not find the thread, something funny with my profile? I did find it later that day... Still looking for some opinions as local shops are giving crazy mixed options from dont do it, to i'll do it for $4000 and everywhere in between.

To be honest I am never sure. The effort that has gone in so far tells me to keep it but the money it will take to get it where I want it says sell it. I guess I will go slow and try not to put to much in at any time...

I think I would check into new quarter panels and any other panels you need once you get into it from Goodmark and fix the tub you already have. I would think that would be easier than putting the two together.
