Just throwing in an idea for ease of storage and space. Currently I have 8 ammo cans (1 under each front seat, 6 in milk crates behind the front seats). Since I am sleeping in the truck for a while, I had the back seat taken out and gets put back in when my kids ride with me.
The ammo cans behind the seats are making it difficult for my 2 boys to get in and out and I've thought of ideas to relocate them. Each idea I came up with ended up being in the way of something else. I did a google search and came up with this:

Plenty of room for spare parts, driveshafts, axleshafts, etc and zero clutter throughout the Blazer interior.

Now, I will be getting a rear suspension seat and will have it mounted like Steve Watson's Wally when it was still a full size Blazer. I can't find his pics...

I'm thinking of putting that reat seat on top of the Pack Rat box and have some removable tubular support so I can still do 2 things, sleep and haul my kids. Now here's the question, do you guys think the rear seat will be too high up for comfort?
Looks like it will be around 12" off the floor? Hard for me to guess and think I could be right...

Weight: 322 lbs :eek1:

Thats alot of weight just for a metal box. I understand what your doing and ive thought about the same thing. Its either the box is too expensive or too heavy. Personally if you want something custom, have one made out of wood, you can use pine or equiv. and if built right will be strong and not so heavy IMO. I think our trucks are oversize pigs anyways, so why add the all that extra weight. plus youve got the weight of all the extra gear as well. jus my .02

I think I copied the wrong link, it's the same box but 260 lbs.

Wasn't sure about the wood strength which made me choose the pack rat. And I know about the stiff price, I'm looking on ebay and CL for a cheapie.

Well, I'm such an lazy a$$ and always looking for a quick and easy way for solutions but badmix had a point and I'm gonna go ahead with wood. Anybody know where I can find steel tracks with ball bearings and such?
In this case, the steel pack rat is 8 7/8" tall but I'll see if I can build it 5" or 6" tall, or just tall enough to fit a driveshaft in there.. I hope I make it sturdy enough to hold all that weight when drawers are fully open.
I'm gonna measure the floor pan and then brainstorm some blueprints sometime this week.

One more question....

how does Herculiner hold up on wood? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've never heard it work with wood... just looking for a way to waterproof the darn thing and keep it from splinting apart when I throw chit on it.

Depends how high the seat is and how tall the passengers are if you have adults back there too. Older kids or adults may bounce their heads off the roof or stick way above the roll cage.
