Alright guys my cousin is going to sell me his 1975 k5 blazer 4x4 all original with a 350 engine....So it is painted camo, It runs and drives good he said. It will need new seats the dash is in good shape. The body is pretty solid from what i saw. There was not any rust that i saw either but i will update that here in the next day or two when i go get a better look at it.

The thing is he is selling it to me for $1500 cash. But it has alot of miles on it and i dont know how much longer it will last he says it is a strong running blazer with no problems. And when he means all original he means everything is the same no joke lol.....

Well from what i told you guys what do you think i should do?

I will add a pole for the hell of it.

Will this blazer be good for me to mud in, go to the beach with, drive around on the creek bottom?

Plans are very very simple: 4-6 inch rancho lift, 33-35 inch tires, new seats, and to clean it up alittle.

So it has the full removable top which is cool and it runs and drives.:1zhelp::sign22:

Its better to start stock and change it as you like IMO. for your uses the half tons should be just fine at that tire size. You should pretty much plan on a engine/tranny rebuild in the near future if its over 150k as a general rule of thumb. Places to look for rust are most obviously the rockers and around the windshield as well as the surfaces the top is mounted on. Water can get trapped in there and cause rust over time, As we are out of the rust belt you shouldnt have too many issues elsewhere but front seat floorboards and fenderwells are also problem areas in some of the salty areas. As far as checking the engine out, I would want to run a compression test and thorough visual inspection of hoses, belts and gaskets and check underneath for leaks/dented oil pans or anything out of place. Also make sure to check under the dash and in the enginge well for hack job wiring. I would test drive before i bought it at that price. I would start with a cold start around town, Then at freeway speeds for at least 20 minutes then test the 4x4 on a low traction surface. If your still satisfied give it a shot :dunno:

wish you had some pics. if the body is good i'd say get it......you don't need a 4" lift for 33's. stay away from Rancho, unless you want to bounce around like a stage coach.

If it`s not rusty I would jump on it for that much. Mehcanical stuff can be replaced/rebuilt/updated.

if the body is good i say get it. i would rather replace a whole drivetrain then replace one rocker panel. a new or reman engine can be had for cheap. th350's can be rebuilt for cheap. replaceing axles with bigger/better stuff is easy.

spending 100 hours sanding, priming, repairing rust. not so easy without alot of expierience

Well the body is straight from what i saw and he has been honest with me and he is not the kind of guy to screw people. He liked the blazer but then his dad went out and bought him a new lifted 4x4 dodge ram 1500. So now the blazer is parked.

Also just to let everyone know if the motor or t case goes out i can get it fixed for really cheap because my cousin dad/my uncle owns a tranny shop lol!

So i am planning ahead! i am buying this blazer for sure and gona start building very mild low budget 350. If the original motor is still running strong i will even build a tranny on the side and drop both in at the same time.

for the price jump on it.not too many left.if there is not much rust and it runs decent, all the more better.

Several on craigslist just look for 1975 blazer and you will find one also there are few on here. Look in the for sale section under vechicles.

Would like to see pics, but yes, I would buy it...and if it is as stock as you say I wouldn't cut on it. But if you are of a mind to make a mud buggy out of then then please let me know what interior stuff you want to sell...I am restoring.

"all original" and "it's painted camo" don't belong together. Most camo trucks have been beat on, which is fine if you're getting a rust free decent running driver for $1500 - Especially worth the money if rust free and the body is straight. It will be fine for any of things you mentioned in stock form. Driving the creek, going to the beach and all that.

Just don't fool yourself into thinking your getting something collectible or special. There's still plenty of $1500 blazers out there. Buy it and enjoy it, I guarantee there'll be plenty to do to keep it on the road. Even if you don't decide to lift and upgrade shi1t.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, it's all good. K5's are cool, it's hard to go wrong for $1500.

Oh lol sorry everyone is always being dicks online to me lol....So i will be buying this thing on feb 4th this friday and i will bring it home take pics to show everyone who might be interested.:D
