A guy wants to trade Chevy 3500s with me My '96 3500 CC SRW 5.7 high milage, auto base Cheyenne.......one in my avatar

<---------- we're talking about truck for truck and I'll kick in my HPD60 plus a couple other parts I've got laying in the garage. Now any drawbacks you can see? anything I'm over looking?

for his loaded (no leather) '97 3500 CC DRW 7.4, stick, lower milage

well he had it for sale on the local 4wd boards for $8k......or trades. apparently it was a company truck for the company he recently bought. I'll go over it before I take it for sure. but I'm just trying to cover all the angles.......

sounds bakards....but?/?....try and keep you d60 and put it under the 97 bbc truck, a srw 14b and srw bed should be easy enuff to find and you would have same thing w/less miles and a vortec efi bbc :-)

The HP60 is a ball joint '93 F350 diff that I paid so liitle for that I had to buy it kind of thing........so not to worried about that. when I do one to my truck it will be a kingpin HP60. I like the sounds of power options and lower KMs ...........I originally wanted a dually but came across this SRW first. So I'm kinda leaning hard to do this trade, but want some outside oppinions.

Sounds like a decent trade to me. Lower miles, stick, are both a upgrade, & DRW is what you want so it doesn't sound bad as long as the truck is well maintained and the other parts he wants arent expensive.

Looks / sounds good to me, but why would he want to trade a low miles rig with a 454 / 5 speed combination for a high miles older rig with transmission problems, and a differential?

That's my question.

because the truck is expendable to him, it just came with the business. Mine is a SRW project truck with a Ford D60 to SAS. I have repaired the tranny already so its a good driver.

Well, all I can say is to give the truck a good drive, make sure nothing pops up on you unexpectedly. I know that you know your stuff, and that you'll probably make a good decision in the long run :)
