my Art Carr shifter being stolen if I leave my top of the whole summer, or should I just put the 23" Lokar Nostalgia shifter that I have in? I have it mounted in an ammo can.

That's what I was going to do with my future Art Carr shifter :haha:  !!

Mount it in your ammo can.

Because your question will never go away until it's stolen or you never mount it.

I live in a very good area, but there are certain places I`d be a little worried about, like certain stores, and some shopping malls. I think it will be fine though. Maybe I can find a way to lock them up? Here`s how they look: (I still have to cut up a piece of sheet metal to cover the big whole in the lid on the left can.

Sorry, don`t have a current picture of the interior. Here`s the one can with the shifter in it:

Its mounted in the ammo can, but it comes through the lid.

Ooooooooh!

My idea was to have the shifter mounted IN the box for rig-theft deterrence.

Where I would shift it into a gear and then close the box. Then, when I leave the rig, I lock the box.

I want to also mount an electrical kill-switch in the box too.

I would be more worried about them stealing the sweet shift knob :D I don't think anyone is gonna steal your shifter. Seems like a big hassle to steal something like that.

I wouldn't...
Why not, you could start a collection:D

BTW, Paul, I`m working on getting ahold of Steve Fox. I`ll keep ya updated.:wink1:

I have to agree, it would be way too much hassle to steal the shifter. The knob maybe, but not the complete shifter. Now if I was closer that thing would be in my truck so fast...j/k. Look really good the way you have it mounted.

How long does it take to steal without damage? What kind of tools are required? Can you use some crapper-stall bolts?
Phrrrrrt. Ahhhh.:D

Not that tech oriented, just a dumb 46 year old biker, electrician, gun nut, and truck nut I guess. Not very far from me at either location. We'll have to meet for a pizza/burger or something??

No my friends family owns paramount rug. Sit there all week watching the freaks and helping with security.

I worry about people stealing just about anything. I had my seats stolen out of my blazer, bases and all!

There's only so much you can do. I've decided if you lock every single thing down, the whole truck might disappear. :dunno:

Park it where it's well lit. If you have a motion sensing light, I think that helps.

I wouldn't worry about it, if you worry all the time you'll never be able to drive the rig anywhere. Besides you can always bring the linkages from the column shift with you and hook them up incase theft does occur since still have two shifters. :wink1:
