Show me your frame brace

The 2 I got from ORD fit like crap. The instructions that came with it say it was made by Genuine Steel. It's for an 89 Blazer if that matters. I don't know if maybe there was a change in the way the frames were formed from the other years but I doubt it.

I'm not sure what basis you use to say that they are all the same manufacturer. I've welded in two of them and they were obviously totally different. One conformed very closely to the frame (The ORD purchased one) and hugged the bulges where the bolts go through. The other one was only slightly curved. Clearly both were from a different company.

I had the one that hugged- it worked perfect for me 77 blazer- i had no question about it, that section of frame has stayed solid since with no noise and no visible flex, i welded all the way around both plates. I don't see how it could work any better. Some are probly talking about a different kit. in my pic you can't see the bottom plate that goes under the box and around the crossmember

It doesn't matter who markets the patch, they're the same.

Just like ORD's bolt on brace and mine, come from the same place, same thing....ORD just calls it, "theirs".

I got the bolt on and the weld on from ORD. They both will be going on. My frame is trashed from DDing with 35's. The bolts actually ripped two holes in the frame which makes the weld in necessary. The bolt in will hopefully prevent it from happening again.

The whole point I've been trying to make is that the weld in is never necessary. I ripped the entire steering box off the frame and I wish I'd just repaired the frame instead of using the weld on brace.

Can you clarify that Tim. If by "same" you mean design, absolutely. Both of mine were basically a similar shape, size, and welded on the same. If you mean same manufacturer, definitely not. Holding the two side by side it was blatantly obvious that they were not made by the same company. Different metal, different color, one stamped to conform to the frame, the other barely curved, different enough shape to be a different dye pattern, etc. Here is an ORD brace vs. a J.C. Whitney brace. Clearly they are similar in design, but very different in final quality. I believe that the J.C. Whitney one was the second one I installed and was a pain since it wasn't very conforming. The ORD one however fit like a glove.

If the ORD one "fits like a glove" and is indeed made by "Genuine Steel Products" there is only one place it comes from.

*drumroll please*

Then who is making that POS that J.C. Whitney sells? Can't be the same company. Hell, it doesn't even look like they made a die for it, just a couple of monkeys wacking on a cutout with a ball peen hammer.....
