I figured this was as good of place to post as any. We sold our first house and just bought a new home with my first garage!! I'm soooo excited, have all kinds of plans to set up shop. I think the first purchase will be a new compressor. Any suggestions on brand, capacity and CFM? Also any pictures of your "shops" to give me ideas would be great!

Jeff,

Have you been able to decide what you are going to do with those axles we had spoken about previously? Is that still going to happen?

so my garage door openings are to the left...

then it is like this for tools... from left to right...

Lincoln electric ac/dc 240v arc welder, craftsman 30gal upright comp, freezer, black toolbox, red toolbox, craftsman 8' workbench

then 2 wall cabinest (Craftsman of course) and on the back wall are my standup cabinets... left one is mine and right one is kids and wifes....

craftsman cabinets are not cheap but SOOOOOOOOOO nice.. I will spend the extra dough for them!!!!!

rest of the room is painted.. so once I get the 21 boxes of hardwood floor out of my garage I will get updated pics...

my left bay is all this stuff and right bay is so I can pull a car in if I have to....

Isn't it amazing how a 2 car garage quickly becomes barely a 1 car garage.

No pics but here is my layout: Clockwise from left side to right side:

Son's toys and bikes, some tools, Christmas decorations, Easter crap, adult bikes, unused workout stuff, coat closet, random shelving for wife's other holiday junk, misc. wood remnants, more kids toys, small section for all my welders, drillpress, sanders, grinders and woodworking tools, wife's holiday flags, etc, etc, yu get the idea. The wifey has invaded my manspace.

How did you train your wives to stay out???????:doah:

At least my blazer is shoe-horned inside the garage while her $50K suv is parked out in the elements.:D

The only way I have found to keep the wife out, is to fill it up with my junk. Right now I only have a carport at the apartment we are in, but we had a garage in our last house, and I made sure as soon as we moved in, it was full of my stuff.

My garage is pretty damn small...

There's this big white, fiberglass top that takes up all the extra space...:D

my garage is 20' x 20' with two 7' doors. I can't fit the truck in it so it gets cluttered with junk. Its a lot cleaner now then in this pic. I had Skyyk5 40's in the back, my short bed disassembled and laying on the floor in the left bay along with three 44's. You can see my 2 year old sons pack and play, he's actually sleeping in it in the picture.

Its a dry place to work and store my parts and tools. no fridge, TV, radio or anything to distract me. just one overhead light and one outlet to run the compressor and power tools off of. I don't spend any money on it since its at my dads house and its falling apart. When I get a home with a garage he is just gonna knock it down. it won't be hard to do.

Heres mine. Only been in it less than a year, so still working on it. Homeowners ass. just approved my plans for a shed so all the lawn equ./ kid toys/ spare parts will be going out there and I'll have more room for shop stuff. Its a two car garage. Going to build a workbench under those cabinets. Those are my 20's stacked up there now.

I was gonna buy those cabinets.. I like them... plus the fridge that matches....

the only reason why I went craftsman is how you can store stuff in the door...

7 milk crates worth of stuff fit in the doors of those 2 big cabinets....

They just stack their crap on top, you might find your stuff one day when hell freezes over. :D
