Sick of the Leak - top repair help needed

ahh priceless post Greg. All good points. I like the open ceiling idea in your garage, I might have to consider that! I live in FL so rain is the issue, it leaks like a sieve when it rains. I promised myself this would not be a money pit.... yah yah I know. With that said I'm not trying to spend a small fortune.

I know you all can relate, the top rattles like a SOB but clever use of tiedown straps have silenced most of them. As far as the rear hatch I've already fixed that, so am I ahead of the game? :pimp:

The nut that is stripped is a weld nut that is glued into the inside of the top using a thin metal washer/strip. Drilling it out to a larger size might break the weld joint between the thin metal washer and the nut. Be careful not to drill too large.

The reality is that all that silicone and the missing drip thingy is probably more of a reason for the leak than the missing bolt. I don't use those bolts and my top doesn't leak (in that area anyway). You might simply try replacing the front seal first.

Ha, I'm at the "storing it behind the garage" stage now. I already tried the "sell it" stage but my wife says I went through so much to get it that I'm not allowed to sell it.

Did you drive all the way up tp WA to get it from Chef, then once you got home you found Ants living in it and ended up fighting them for a while? Now you want to get rid of it?:haha:

Yep, yep, and yep. I actually like having it, it's just so huge it's tough to find space for it when I take it off.

Im gonna call Bear right now, lol. He was really kicking himself for getting rid of that when the rain and snow came. I ended up giving him mine just so I would be forced to buy a Soft top and not have to deal with storing that heavy, noisy SOB.:haha:

Little late to this thread, but I'm going to state the obvious since nobody else has. Take the top off - problem solved. :thumb:
