Side markers

Ok guys, this may seem like a dumb question but the side marker lenses on my 69 in the fender have no provisions for lighting, is it supposed to be this way or did a previous owner do a little creative wiring?

Are you saying there is no pigtail from your wire harness or there is no receiver for a light bulb in your side marker. I too have a 69 with no pigtail, thus no light. I guess it is a popular modification, lol. The truck should have bulbs in the marker lights. If you want them back, go to a junkyard and remove some from a donor. Note where they come from and where they go for your installation. Incidently, the marker lights are just that. They stay on with the headlights. They do not flash with the signals, although I understand that is an easy modification.

Lots of 69's and all of the 68's had marker lenses without bulb sockets.......... by 71, they all had sockets, and wiring in the backside of the markers.....
Lots of them were only reflectors with no socket holes and wiring for them...

That's interesting to know that the '69 didn't flash the front side marker lights. My '72 flashes them, so I guess it was a change made in '70 or '71 at the factory. Anyone have a clue as to which year was the changeover?

Ok, I found the specs, for the 70 model year, they were changed to, and I quote: "two front sidemarker combination lights & reflectors".

In 69 they are listed as: "two front sidemarker reflectors".

'72 K-5 4x4, CST, 3.07, 4 speed, NP 205, 31' x 10.5", Olive green and primer, rusted out, rice smasher!
