i have a 79 2wd c-10 that got t-boned on the passenger side, i've stripped everything good out of it, except the drivers side roll-up window.

i have several other 81+ trucks, but they have all their windows & that keeps them weather tight & i really don't want to pull the window out of them, b/c it keeps critters from making a home in 1...if i have to pull the door glass i guess i will gut the interior also.

my question is, what is the difference in 73-80 door glass & 81+ door glass...the 87 3+3 i just bought needs a left side door glass and i was going to put the 79 door glass in it, but LMC has a different listing for 73-80 & 81+ doorglass...i thought the cabs pretty much stayed the same from 73-87...what gives? will the 79 glass work in the 87?

The vent windows are different as well and don't interchange. I don't know if you are switching those out as well.

I just read the LMC catalog and it said...

"the original vent window for 1973- 1980 and the 1981-1984 models are no longer availiable. The 1985- 1991 vent window can be used as a replacement. A slight difference in the number of mounting holes may be noticed."

IDK. I have a 79 Blazer and a 87 Jimmy. The ones on the 87 are broke and I was going to try to swap them.

no, i only need to change the roll up window...still not sure if the 79 glass will fit the 87 3+3 tho, i guess i will try it/live & learn...

then i can carry that truck across the scales...if any1 needs any of the a/c box out of it let me know...it'll be a week or 2 before i tote it off...i'm going to pull the rearend & springs, and the front cross member from tire to tire, also all the fuel & brake lines&proportion valve...i hate to scrap anything that is usable..even if it sits for yrs. as soon as i scrap it, i'll need it in a couple of days after throwing it away...always seems to happen!

I did not think the glass was different. When i got new glass for mine a few weeks back from a friend at a glass shop, the difference they asked me was if they were clear or had a green tint. Alot of the earlier stuff was just clear. Got my new door glass at his cost for ($16.00). I got 2 vent, 2 door, 1 side, and a back glass for $225.00

Do you know anyone that works at a glass shop that can help you.
