Anybody know where to purchase replacement latches for the side windows on a 1988 K5? My Google searches have come up empty handed...again. Thanks.

CrpMag122, I'm always bad about not providing enough information in my posts. I was looking for the latches for the sliders on the fiberglass top. My mistake. Thanks for the help.

wheels87k5, I think these are what I am looking for! I think I will try McMaster-Carr version first. Thanks!

Update: After more carefully measuring my latch size (broken pieces) I decided to buy once, cry once and purchase the OEM pieces on eBay. Thanks for all the help and especially the links (wheels87k5!) This project has taken on a very expensive twist! Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

The EBAY seller is a member on this forum( irish1941) and is also the person who makes the rear scuff plate for Blazers and Jimmys. I just got one and it is nice re pop.

Well, I'm glad my business is going to a forum member. I've yet to check the rear scuff plate but if it's like the rest of the vehicle I'll probably end up buying one of those too.

I purchased my K5 online and it was supposed to be a VG condition, rust free truck and has been a nightmare! I'll never buy a vehicle sight unseen again!

Sorry for the rant.

I did the same thing, about 11 years ago. All it did was cause me to join CK5, do a build thread, and spend too much money.

Glad I did. :doah:

Well, I guess I'm not alone. I'm doing the same thing. I hope I'll be glad when it's done as well. I have to say I wanted to buy a Blazer so I could work on it if I HAD to but didn't think I'd HAVE to work on it, at least not to this extent. I'm meeting a lot of good people though. Thanks for welcoming to the "should'a looked first club!"

You know, you can actually buy the original ones still. I got super lucky and called a local industrial parts supply place that stocked them, told them that i was restoring a K5 Blazer and the dude said he'd just send me two "sample units" for the shipping cost.

But, for your reference, you can buy the factory original units right here: https://www.biscoind.com/Southco/07-10-201-12. If you remove your broken original off the window, it should say SouthCo on the back side, at least mine did. The part number is SouthCo 07-10-201-12.

It would be great to have a group buy together for those that need them, because the volume discount is huge!

Now if only i can find the damn rolling latch for the early style center console I'd be set! It almost looks like a small rolling latch for a closet door, but I cant find that piece anywhere!

I don't have that latch but I do have a center console that you might be able to replace yours with. I think it may be an earlier unit since it is a lighter color gray than the one in my Blazer. Could you replace the roller unit with the newer style latch? If so I have an extra one of those. Don't know if it would bolt up the same or not. If it does I'll send it to you.I don't need it so it's yours if you can use it. Just let me know if you can use anything I have.

I don't know how you find all the things you find online. I'm a "tech moron" using a computer. I'd be in for a bulk buy on those latches, never know when they will break. I was actually concerned about purchasing the old OEM units since they might be so old as to be brittle. As for what mine said on the back of the latch, only the bases were there. Didn't have any idea who made them. So many parts missing, not working, broken, etc.(I'm sure you know what I mean.)

Anyway, let me know if I can help. I'll look for that latch but, as I mentioned, I'm not very good at finding things online. BTW, what years used that latch style?

1975Jimmy, The comment about the comment about finding the console after the NY piece (which I've deleted since posting.), I didn't look before responding. Was thinking I was talking to wheels87k5. Obviously, you need a very early latch assembly. Let me know if you can convert yours over or need the whole console (if you can't find your latch.) I'll try to help in any way I can.

No problem and much appreciated. I am trying to keep mine period correct on the inside as much as possible. There has to be guys on CK5 with a few old-style non-locking consoles laying around. But, seriously, that was a very kind offer.

Hey I can use a set of those latches for side sliding glass. Did you get original GM and do they have anymore. Thanks
