Sidewall repair

SandawgK5,

I took a tire to a Big O shop in SLC this past summer that had a very very small sidewall cut (it was not detectable by visual inspection) and they refused to repair it. I told them that it was going to be used on a ranch truck (it was) and they still said "no".

I thought I had a very good relationship with this shop, and I have spent several thousand dollars there. Didn't matter to them, but they lost me as a customer.

IMHO the refusal to repair sidewall damage has more to do with selling new tires than providing customer service.

Or it has more to do with liability and they don't want to be sued for millions when your tire blows out at 75 mph and you roll your truck into oncoming traffic.

Maybe radial tires can be safely repaired for road use, from what I've heard they can't.

Regardless, Big O certainly is not capable of safely fixing any sidewall repair. All of the chain tire stores would tell you the same.
