I just bought an 89 Sierra and get no fuel from the pump. It fires up with a drop of gas in the carb and a touch of the key,it has been sitting for a year or so. I cant hear the pump run,or not run, thanks to the heater blower. I'm researching and tracing relay, wiring etc but would greatly appreciate any insight from the pros here. Of course as usual this will be my work truck because I'm an old school diehard for GM

You can unplug the blower wire and listen for the pump.

Would I be insane to consider putting an inline electric pump on rather than drop the tank to replace the in tank?

Have you applied power to the pig tail on the relay to by it and see of the pump runs

No not yet anyway. There are 2 identical relays on the firewall and not sure which,if either,is the fuel relay. The inline 20 is fine. The truck is in a horse pasture on 4 flats so not ideal to get around the tank. I'm trying to get it moved to a better spot. Dealing with crappy data/wifi signal to research any possible simple cause before going deep

The fuel pump relay is the one with a RED wire on bottom that is not connected to anything. The other relay is for the transmission kick down. It should be the one on the right as seen from front of vehicle.

OK frakkit I'm cutting a hole in the bed above the pump and trying a direct 12v line tomorrow. Its been one of those days

In case you don’t know, the grey wire is 12v to the fuel pump and purple is for the sending unit, ground is any bare metal of course. You can’t access the pigtail by the tank/frame?
