1990 K5 - about to replace the calipers and brakes. When I ordered the caliper and brake pads I got what is in the picture. Question is do I need abutment clips? Or does the pad ride on on the caliper itself? Also, there is a black clip how does that attach?

Calipers are NuGeon 97P17238A and B
Brake Pads are Raybestos EHT52

Thanks for helping a noob.

Solution
That clip goes on the inboard pad, (piston). the bent tang goes on the side w/o the ears. Clips in the middle, should be a small notch where clip goes.
It's intended purpose is draw the pad away from the rotor when brake pedal is released.
The silver part is a warning device it will squeal when pads are worn. I needs to be on the leading side in direction of rotation.
On the out board pad you want the little tabs to grab the caliper as tight as possible. I squeeze them in a vise just enough that I need to force the pad on.
clip holds pad to caliper as you install it and slide in the 2 bolts for the pad to hang from . i have seen both with and with out from rust off or left off . . . didnt make much difference .

No 1 for each side. The bushings in the caliper need to slide smoothly, I the orings, silicone grease is perfect for this .
The copper washers are important 1 on each side of banjo fitting.

I forgot to put the bushings/bolts in the picture, they are pre-lubed.

As they should be. Always good to check they move freely. If they weren't assembled correctly the bushings will stick.
If some ham handed minium wage who smoked his lunch doesn't give crap assembler rolled the oring and forced the bushings you will have bad pad wear, and possibly a pull to one side.
