Silverado 3500 6.5 Turbo Diesel Heavy Towing

Not really mad. i feel you are jumping around too much. Not that i haven't done the same, and continue to still do a little bit of that myself.

Probably Cummins swapped
Yep.

Or who's to say it's not a big block? I didn't see any black smoke.

Now...
Your going to tell me it's a 6.5 because of the holes in the bumper....well a 20 year old truck, that doesn't mean shit. It could have been crashed and that's the bumper they found because the 6.5 it came off of was sitting in the junksyard.

That said. I'm not sure why anyone would care what that video is showing.
A 350 could do that. Not saying it would do it well. But it could.

You don't need jack for power to move a heavy load at 20mph. I have a truck with a 130HP/230TQ gas 6 cylinder that wouldn't blink an eye at that load at 20mph. Pulling up a grade at freeway speeds is a whole different ball game.

Heck, for that matter, I had approx 15K pounds behind a 1/2 ton 5.7 truck a couple years. Was fine up to 40mph or so, when trailer loading became an issue and sway set in. Power was _never_ the issue there.

The video is kind funny that he says "old silverado doing the job of a new truck" or whatever he says.

LoL, it's not even a "Silverado" it's a K3500. It might have a silverado trim package on it.

So could a 292...

I wonder why he loaded it with soo much pin weight? Wouldn't be surprised if there is 10k on those rear truck tires. Maybe it was loaded that way because being only triple singles on the trailer, the trailer tires aren't rated for enough?

So I will definitely weigh in on this one.

1. My truck would not be making black smoke in that scenario, so there is now way of knowing which engine that truck had by how much smoke was seen. Diesel bumper? Yep, and leads me to believe it would be a diesel. So most evidence points that direction. But ultimately no one knows.

2. My truck could easily pull that load and keep a 65mph speed. Up a mountain pass? Nope, and no one claimed it would keep 65mph up that pass. I'd be good to keep a 50mph speed up a decent grade for sure.

3. I'm glad to see a video of someone actually giving the 6.5 some decent respect. Not enough people do.

So that being said, I'm off to go replace my PMD, injectors, harmonic balancer, crank pulley, glow plugs, and rebuild my injector pump lol.

:burnout:

And a good 454 would cost less than doing all that--and still risk having crank failure!..:surepal:
Crank failure on a 2000 year 6.5 only results from not keeping up on proper maintenance. I'm not scared of that at all. There are too many 300k plus engines out there working and towing daily on 3500HD's for me to be worried.
