Ok well I have the crack:( You know the one at the front where the steering box is. Heres some pics. I just took them today. But to me it looks like the crack splits on the side and runs under the box. How do you guys think I should fix it?

I was thinking of welding it up, grinding it smoth again. Then taking something like 1/4in steel and welding on top, botom and the side under the box. Then buying the brace so it dont happen again. What do yall think about that?

Also To me it looks like the frame is bent in? I mean the bumper fits closer on the driver side then it does on the pass said. Again just let me know what yall think.

That's a gnarly one. Definitely seen worse, though.

Get the weld-on brace, follow the instructions to repair your frame, then get the bolt-on brace to help keep it from happening again.

If the cracks travel beyond the area of the weld-on brace, V out the cracks and do as you said previously (weld, grind, plate) on the remaining areas.

you will need both frame plate weld on kit and a bolt in kit. then some time with the grinder and welder and so on. thats not a easy fix one in a 1/2 hr or so. all i can say is wow. :eek1:

note to any and all people if you need at or more than 1/4 turn in the wheel till steering moves then check the frame and linkage parts. that is all.

Could be worse. :)

Strip the present area for paint, drill out the crack ends (if the crack(s) stop halfway), grind a V-notch throughout the crack, crank your welder way up and run a bead along the notch, lastly you should brace and plate the endangered area.

AutoFab actually holds the patent to it. when Tim's Offroad was selling them, that's where he was getting them from.

that is definatly fixable.. ill see if i can link my thread about it. i think there was some good advise in it. lol.

Would it be ok to drive it about an hour down the road to my buds house for welding?

And again should I build some plates for the side under the gear box for suport or not?

I would like to weld it up, then take some 1/4in steel to the top and under where the crack was. Then pull the gear box off and weld a 1/4in plate over where the gear box mounts and drill new mounting holes for extra suport. Now if I do that it will put the gear box 1/4in over, will that mess with my steering or anything?

Update

Well got out side this morning and yanked the front end off my truck. Its not near as bad as I thought it was. I have a friend coming over hopfully this weekend to weld it up. Heres some pics of my truck the way it sets as of 3:00pm today :D
