I heard this anit realy that hard to do cab just bolts up and chop off the rear body mounts. I already have a 2wd 84 gmc and i can get a k5 chassis pretty cheap. If i swapped my cab and build a flat deck how hard would it be to get it road worthy if i keep it on 33's or small tire until i can afford to run bigger. i would run 3/4 axles I dont plan on doing any hard core wheeling just some trails. Any one else use a single cab on a k5 chassis for daily driving if its aloud. Also what difficult level would this be at i know its not easy to move the cab. It would have to be a back yard job and on a tight buget

Oh any one know a build up article or somethign that can help point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Jason

If the k-5 chassis you get is older than 79 (I'm not 100% sure on the year) then the cab will bolt right on. If the chassis is newer than 79, you will have to fab up something for the rear cab body mounts.

i think the chassis is a 87 or 88 Im not afarid of fab work just worried about legality issuses

just search for trazer...there are quite a few of them poppin up...:D

Does mine count as a trazer if its a 68 truck cab? hah

Don't mean to hijack, but how hard is it to find parts in hawaii thedrip? My girlfriend was just on vacation there, and she said she didn't know of any junkyards or anything, that would suckkk! hah
Hijack off.

Not the easiest. LOTS of cucv's around though. Isn't worth shipping them anywhere, so when they get decommisioned, they almost always go to the public instead of forest service or anything like that. Theres a military base on almost every island as well.

does anyone use one of theses trazers for a daily driver just wanted to see if it was possbly. I dont want to start a project if i cant use it on the road.

Only reason you wouldn't be able to use it on the road is if you ran into titling issues. Frame & cab vin don't match obviously. Since I own both the blazer that donated the frame and the truck that donated the cab, I'm not too worried. I'm registering as the cab title, since thats the vin anyone would look at. Insurance will be a SMIDGE higher, and if I ever move to a state that does registration absed on GVWR, it would be more expensive as well. Cab came off a CUCV 5/4 ton truck.

I'll guess i will have to have a chat with the local motor vechile regerstration on monday to figure out the legalitys. I realy don't want to start a project like this and then turn aroudn to get kicked in the ass and not be able to drive it.

Its not to hard to do big thing is having enough people around to put the cab on mine is a 79 frame and a 80,s cab. As far as legality I was told you need the cab title and the frame title and they would issue a new vin # for the vehicle with a title to represent what I had!
