All the J-code 6.2L intakes I've seen and sold off of CUCV's were all duel plain but I just bought a single plain intake off of e-bay. The seller said it came from a military hummer and is a j-code. Whats the deal? I know with gas engines single and dual plain intakes have different performance characteristics, I assume its the same with diesels? What kind of performance can I expect from this manifold? Thx

There are three different single plane manifolds available.

1) 1988-1992 6.2L single plane J - has a raised center section with a single CDR port on the passenger side. Stud orientation is 12 & 6.

2) 1993-2000 6.5TD single plane F - has a raised center section with no CDR ports. Provision for 6 mounting bolts; no studs.

3) 198?-199? 6.2L/6.5L NA single plane Hummer intake - has a flush center section with a single CDR port on the passenger side. Stud orientation is 3 & 9. ***This is what you probably have***

All three are excellent, and you can expect better performance from your single plane than a dual plane. There's a big hole in the center with runners going out from it. I have one, and will probably work it into my future plans.

Here's a pic of a Hummer intake:

It's the goldish "tuna can" located either just above the alternator on early 6.2L engines, or on the passenger side valve cover on later 6.2L and all 6.5L.
