I have a set of flat disc brake brackets for a 14bff that were in a truck when I bought it. I can't find the spacers. What is the thickness of the spacers? With the design of the sliding pin calipers, how close does it really even have to be?

I didn't like the kit I got, same thing, flat bracket with spacers. I put the thing on and found out the spacer were the wrong size. I bought the kit off Ebay, maybe GLO, can't remember. Pulled it all back off and bought some of Kert's brackets. Easy install, all it great.

However, I still have brake issues. The discs are nice for mud, but I don't see mud very often. Knowing now the troubles I'm having, I would have kept the drums.

Meh, it's for a buddy of mine who is pretty broke right now (going through court for child custody). I am doing the work for no labor, and giving him parts. The 14 bolf he has had bad axle seals and the brakes are shot. It will be a lot cheaper to throw discs on it.

Also, I did discs on my 1988 V10 Suburban, and I prefer them. Inboard drums are a lot of work.

When I fab'd the rear disc on my 70 I found the floating calipers to be extremely forgiving. I ended up assembling everything and just measured to gap between the bracket and flange, I made a spacer that thickness and put it together.

I don't have a ton of mileage on it but so far they work great with not uneven wear or odd behavior.

Marty does have a heart! :D

To the question, I have a set of brackets on the bench which are 1 1/8" total thickness, 3/8" of bracket proper and 3/4" of spacer.

In your case, the spacer depth will of course depend on the thickness of the bracket.

3/4" thick spacers.

bracket thicknes doesn't actually matter since the floating caliper mounts to the backside of the caliper bracket. Backside is always in the same place.

Would you like to sell said brackets?

Thank you, and yeah, that's why I never bothered to measure the thickness of the bracket.

PM sent to keep sales out of the Garage. (You're welcome, Steve :D )
