whats the new rage in skid plate material? Is there a high speed material that people are using these days over AR steel?

Just know it will need to replaced after some abuse, especially at 1/2".

There has to be someone around with some old loader bucket plates

I have a box of hardface rods laying around, next time I have my skid off I'm going to use them. I welded up about ten backhoe buckets with this stuff for use around rocks and they held up well.

There are some higher grade sheet alloys around like Domex and the stuff Goatbuilt uses is XT100 I think, both are about 3x the strength of a standard "mild steel" but still about half of a AR plate
