Totally disintegrated the transfer case mount on my truck the otherday while skidding a giant cedar log. Blew all the rubber out, broke everything inside of the mount, and shifted the entire drive train so far to the drivers side, that the front out flange on the transfer case wore a 1/4 deep groove in the cross-member. Shifted about 2". Buddy busted out the passport and generator, 3 grade 5 bolts and 10 mins later, I had it welded up enough to atleast get it home. Time to build my own, better x-member now I guess, lol.

The amount of disgusting, stinky, burning, rubbery napalm, liquid and smoke pouring off of this thing after these "welds" was unreal. Smelled soooo bad. A hard mount drive train sucks by the way.

Thats a cool looking welder unit. What model is that, and can it run gas?

It's a Miller Passport. It's totally self contained. EVERYTHING is in the suitcase. Welder, gas bottle, feeder, wire spool, everything. As pictured, it would cost you about $2k. It runs on 110 and 220. It is capable of running ANY kind of wire, flux core, stainless, mild, aluminum, spool guns, everything. That particular gun has a 360* rotating head for out of position stuff, just twist the locking collar and rotate, then lock the collar back down. It's a sweet setup for sure.

I guess it's called the "Multi-Matic 200" now-

It runs pretty good on a cheap-ass 4000w 220v generator at the highest heat setting. A better quality generator would run it even better. One of the badass Honda inverter generators would be perfect.

Man, tell me that the log I saw was not the one that did that damage........

I know you had the larger tires on, which increased the load on the drivetrain, but I have dragged stuff way bigger than that with my trucks with no problems.

I suspect the mount was already broken.

Heck, if I ever get off my butt and convert some of my super8 movies to something I can post here, I can show you my old 4 banger 60 model Jeep dragging Lightard stumps twice that size with some of my friends riding on them.

Oh, and BTW, check the front of your truck. I saw a large stick jam its self up under the radiator as you went by.
Had to repair lots of stuff due to things like that.

If you look at the first video where I'm hooked to the log, at about the 1:35 min mark, it took a big, hard hop. That's what broke it. Wasn't broke before, I would have noticed. I was in low range, foot on the floor and that log is way bigger than it looks. 6' long and almost 40" in diameter. Truck weighs 8K lbs. Cheap ass $15 autozone mount couldnt handle it.

As for the small logs, no damage there at all. They tried to murder the kingpins and the 1/2" wall 1.5" DOM tie rod. :haha:

And, one more.......

If you are going do much tree flattening and moving large objects over rough terrain, this is the kind of equipment you need.

That is what I designed it for........

The bumper has handled up to 4 inch dia. pines at almost 40mph, and the winch will bring up the heavy stuff without working up a sweat....

Yeah, I'm definetly not so into this kinda work that I need to go buy something specialized. The only reason this tree had to go was for more sunlight in other areas. Look around the videos and you'll figure it out. :deal::smokin2:

The log in this video is the first 6' of the stump. It's going to another buddy that has an ornamental iron/black smith shop who wants to use it as an anvil stump. The rest of the logs are 14' long, cut them myself. Those will be the fun ones to drag outta there.....GIVE IT A GALLON!! :woot:

The updated model looks really impressive. Have you used it for stick also? I have been looking for a welder as I just borrow a crapsman one right now. They have a rebate that brings it down to $1,637 if you buy before May 31st. Would that be a price to jump on?

I've never used one for anything but mig/wire welding, all types, to include spool gun. No experience with the stick/tig features. I haven't looked at the specs, but I'd imagine it has an inverter power supply in there, and those types of machines ALWAYS weld really nice tig/stick. And yes, at that price, I'd jump on it. Also make SURE you get the 360* rotating mig gun...that thing is worth its weight in gold. I think my buddy said it was a $40 upgrade. What you see in the pictures cost him just over $2k. He's on his way over here now, I'll ask more specifics when he gets here.

Here's video of the tree goin down-

Nope...That one was dropped to open up more sunlight for our, uhh.....tomato garden.

:whistle::haha:

Just watch out for the red ones.................
