I was thinking of building sliders for the purpose of protection against side impacts during a crash, and not necessarily for off roading. Since I drive pick-up trucks and not Blazers, I have saddle tanks. I was going to run the slider bar down the length of my crew cab doors and the tanks. I was thinking of attaching the slider bar to the frame only, and then put rubber bump stops on the bars to cushion against the body in case of excessive body flex. I also wanted to mount steps to the slider bar. These steps would be like a chain saw against anybody broad siding my truck, which with the lift my truck has would put the steps a head level to a standard car. Thus not only slicing off the A,B, and C roof pillers, but the heads of the occupants of the car as well. What do you think of that plan?
