Not many things suck worse than a leaking tent; and mud is for 4x4s, not sleeping bags.
I made a quick and easy bed/bunk for camping, long distance travel naps, or just for more storage.
Easy and cheap to make - anyone can figure it out and get it done in about 30 minutes. Most of you prolly already have the materials hanging around the shop.
It's not permanently attached, comes completely out in less than a minute and it slides from front to back for easy access to stuff underneath it.

(Look on the bottom of the first page, Mod10 - Mod 12)

Other ideas and more bunk pics in there, too, for the curious.
It's "love bug swarming season" in SW FL and all my screened windows are coming in handy :waytogo:.

While that is kinda cool i'm 6' 1" and don't see being comfortable trying to sleep all scrunched up. When I know i'll be "camping" I just remove my back seat and sleep with my head at the tailgate and my feet at the rear of the fronts seats and I pretty much am touching the seats but at least i'm comfortable as I can stretch out without having to be curled up.

Dude - I have no idea htf you can sleep with your legs hanging over that drop-off! I can't do it. You need a Burrbn.

I'm only 5ft8 so the K5 bunk is ok for my height.

BUT...when I started converting my Cargo Trailer into a Toy Hauler and figured out pretty quick that a 6 x 12 trailer is really only 5ft9 inside width....I had to rethink bunk placement.
I wanted to go with a side-to-side split bunk over the axle. Doing Right Triangle math (a2xb2=c2) I'd get 6 ft of length, if I slept diagonally, on a 36" wide bunk with the 5ft9 length.

Nah, don't think of it as a gypsy wagon,

Think of it as a "Bug-Out-Blazer" for the Zombie Apocalypse.

:zombie2: :zombie11:

I took out all my stuff so the pics would be less cluttered; It's typically full of parts, tools, equipment, chains, propane grill, screen house, first aid kit, crossbow, xtra clothes, the shower set-up, fishing gear....you get the idea.
Remote and Roadless Rock - Civilization and Cement Suck.

cool idea but I'd just rather sleep in the rear cargo are myself. I'm 5'8" so I don't need much room. I've slept in the back of my minivan with just the far rear seat removed at the motocross track.

I actually have a Craftsman tool case that sits on the floor and is just tall enough that it makes the front floor the same height as the rear floor I sleep on. :thumb:

it's one of the reasons when I built my floor, I brought the "footwell wall" right behind the seats...

when I camp, I bring a 2 man tent for my stuff... set it up, take everything out of the back and stow in the tent, air mattress in the cargo area for sleeping...

I'm bringing my chalet back to life on the built 79...
Thats why the 4whl pop top has to go.
I hate sleeping on the back floor...the ridges dig into my back and wake my happy ass up all the time..

Chevy-Chalets are KEWL. Now there's your Zombie Apocalypse Bug-Out-Vehicle!
What's your mileage like? I'm figuring a K5 is un-aerodynamic enough, but the big top and the extra weight must kill your mileage, no?
Can you off-road with it or too top heavy/too tall?

Nice. A litterbox and a port-a-potty. Way to cover the bases. :waytogo:

Seriously though, cool setup.

The box is a Must-Have for my navigator and my co-pilot. My Persians are worse than you guys's gf's....... They refuse to "go" anywhere but an "indoor bathroom".

It would be cool if that porta potty had a hole right to the outside. You could fire one out while driving down the highway and watch it skip along the highway.

I'm guessing you don't work on your own truck / change your own tires.
Also guessing you've never talked to a big rig mechanic or been behind a big rig with 3-4 middle eastern 'drivers' who do just that - sh*t and p*ss right thru a hole they cut in the floor of the bunk.
If there was a puke icon, I'd be using it.

That's digusting dude.

So do you actually live in your Blazer or stay in it for long periods? I tried that for about six months a few years back. I put a truck topper on my short bed Ford that had crank out windows with bug screens. I like camping out, but I got tired of it always being either too hot or too cold all the time.
