So I have a 73-75 top and it currently has solid glass with bad tint. I’m sure I can take the tint off but my original idea was to replace it with the sliding glass style in my 76-91 top. I like the rear passengers having the ability to open their windows. I’m almost positive the glass is interchangeable but confirmation on that would be nice. Also I’ll have to replace at least one sliding window because it’s cracked. My main question is, should I swap the glass? Pros and cons of each? Opinions? I wish the sliding ones weren’t so tinted I like them being clearer and the solid glass is like that. Thanks in advance!

They’re interchangeable.
Have you tried using a heat gun to remove the tint? Don’t know if that would work but worth a try.
I haven’t tried taking the tint off yet but that’s what I’ll use when I do. It’s pealing pretty good so it should come off easy. Good to know they’re interchangeable thanks!

I had sliders. I got rid of them.

My issues were that the wing window pivots wear out and the windows can flop around. And tiny steel screws into aluminum doesnt lend itself to easy repairs.

The seals may or may not be easy to find today.

If someone breaks one, probably a lot more costly to repair, if it can even be done.

Electric rear window is a lot easier for me as a driver to control airflow, and it's far more effective at cooling. If I had riders in the back often, might be an option for them though.

Good points, I might just leave the solid window and if I decide I want to change it later I can

I like my sliders, even though they rarely get opened. The dark tint helps keep some of the heat away from the sun.
I have thought about pulling the wing windows off for more openness, but mine are tight and functional.
I don't like riding in the back of a K5 with solid windows when out wheeling, personally. Probably just my perspective.
I like to have access to open air.
And I have found it difficult to get the rear window opened to an amount that doesn't let dust or exhaust in at times.

That’s the thing I really like the functionality. And my wing windows work great. I guess I’ll decide when it’s time to work on the top, thanks for the insight guys!
