Hello. when I first start my 89 k5 it takes time and needs to warm up before it will go into reverse. It will go into drive but sometimes slips until it gets warmed up. The original owner had Chevy replace transmission 700R with a Gm remanufactured at 115,000 miles. I bought it with 117,000 miles. After a few miles it shifts and drives and reverses like there's nothing wrong. What would cause this to occur ?

a loose or damaged filter or low fluid condition may be causing this. If you have to remove the pan, check the bolts that hold the small aluminum auxiliary valve body at the rear of the trans, this is directly over the reverse passages in the case. A loose bolt or two here can definitely cause a cold slip or no engagement.

Ok guys I did the transmission filter/fluid change with no change in its performance. The transmission is now being rebuilt to include all the upgrades and extras for a good price by reputable mechanics/transmission shop. The mechanic shop/owner was referred to me by other satisfied customers and mechanics.
