Ok I am going to convert my sm465 to a 700r4. Has anyone done this convertion and what does it involve? Will my np208 hook up to it or will I have spline problems there?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Man, I hope you guys with SM465s are still dumping them after I get a garage! I've got a wonderful 700R4 behind my diesel that I'm looking to replace with a manual.

The SM 465 for the NP 208 is a 32 spline output...the 700R4 is a 27 spline output so the T-case will not just bolt up to the 700R4.

Do you know what is needed to make it work?

You have to change the output of the tranny if it's not a 4wd version (which requires a complete teardown), to the short spline shaft (if it's a 4wd tranny you should be all set). And if I remember correctly, you will then have to replace the input shaft and bearing on the t-case (which would require a partial to complete teardown).
