Hey guys, I'm trying to finish up my Sm465 swap and trying to get the linkage hooked up. Problem is my I have a 400 block and it has the provision for the ball stud over the oil filter but this is way too far back for the plate and Z-bar. I removed a whole pedal/linkage assembly off of a 69 and it had the plate that attaches to the block and moves the ball stud forward in the correct position. Now the the plate, Z-bar, and ball stud all look like they are in the correct position but the linkage doesn't fit the way it should. I know I should have included pictures....but it's late so I'll probably take some tomorrow. Anyone got any pics of what a stock one should look like? And don't anyone tell me I should of went hydro:doah:

Here's a pic of the 400 that is in my 70 K5 along with a pic of the linkage.

Thanks Yukon! So did you leave the plate on the frame in the same position it is in the picture or did you move it? From where you have the ball stud on the block it looks like the plate would be too far forward for the Z bar to connect. Maybe I'm missing something:confused:

Here are photos of my original stock setup with a stock 350:

Thanks guys! That's what I needed to see, one actually hooked up. I was thinking the Z bar ran straight across at a 90 degree angle to the frame. Looks like from the picture that it runs at angle back to the block. That explains why my linkage didn't want to fit!

Sometimes I amaze myself with my stupidity! Appears I had two Z-bars that I picked up from the junkyard....never thinking that they could be different:doah: Of course the one I was trying to use was the one I painted and made look all nice. Finally after several hours of farting around I decided to compare it to the other one I had.....look at the difference in the width and contour! The right one went on in about ten seconds:mad:
