SM 465 Problem

I acquired a SM 465 and it stuck in 1st gear. I feel like i'm going to bend the shifter before I can force it out of gear. I have tried shaking the whole truck to get it to pop out, but nothing! It has been sitting for 3-5 years at least, and I just hooked the drive-train. I also removed the inspection plate and the gears looked good! The truck is not running yet.

Any thoughts on why it is stuck?

shift rails are probably frozen or the shifter could be misaligned with the shift forks, either way it sounds like your gonna need to pull the stick and top cover
