I just bought a '76 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 for $400 mainly for the SM465/205 setup. I want to swap them into my '86 Chevy M1008. From what I've read, this tranny/case combo has 10 spline output shafts.
Is the newer 32 spline version of this tranny and transfer case so much stronger that I should keep looking for the 32 spline setup or should I not worry about it and swap in what I got?
FYI, I wheel the truck...It's on 40" tires, H1 Beadlocks recentered. 52's springs up front...63's in the back. Wheel Base shortened about 20". Locked front and rear. (Shortened bed soon to come
) Anyways...
I just don't want to waste time and money if I'm gonna break an output shaft right off the bat.
Also, If I run the SM465/205 that I just bought, I believe I will need a rear 1350 yoke for the 205. Can someone tell me where to pick one up?
Thanks for the help! I do appreciate it.
