i am looking for a nice working/tight 465 with a 10sp output shaft. i dont need any adapters or bell. just the trans. i just want to make sure its a nice one. this is the 5th trans removal in my truck, and i dont want to do it again anytime soon.

i also need a 88-92 round body aluminium 465 trans top with shifter.

i dont want to have a trans shipped, but the top and shifter would be ok if the price is right.

Why not either rebuild one or have one rebuilt? A buddy of mine has one you could have for pretty cheap but it needs a rebuild.

So what is wrong with this one?

they are all auto:D

actually the current built t350 is almost new and works perfect. it will be for sale here soon. im installing a new engine and updating alot of stuff, so i figured i would just switch to a manual now rather than later. i said that if this 350 breaks i would put a manual in it (which is what i want anyhoo).

that would be great. i'm not in a huge hurry. i'm just trying to locate all the parts i need and figure out how much $ i will have left.

im more concerned about finding the top plate and shifter.

So if you are starting with a fresh setup why go with the weak 10 spline?
It eats up couplers, it has lots of slop.:dunno:
32 spline is much better.

no drive coupler. its a 203 and the input gear i got from blazinrockwells looks brand spankin new.
this thing wont see 3k miles a year. i think it will last a long time.

i thought about redrilling the 203 and all that. but i have 2 465/203 adapters and gears. im poor and going to use what i gots.

Well there is a guy down here that is selling a 10 spline 465 cheap, good condition.
Let me see if we can find him for you.
I think $100 but I will confirm and PM you.

thats cool. i found a trans. i just need the round body style top plate and shifter.
I know someone that has a complete 4x4 tranny from that vintage, I will see if he'd be willing to seperate.

I guess I could offer it for $200 plus shipping, if you prefer.
Or maybe include the trans for $2000, shipped.
No, not a typo.

For a 465 shifter and top plate? Maybe I'm missing something but it sure seems you van get a complete 465 for less then 200 pretty easy.

Finding that particular model of top plate and shifter is rather difficult; they weren't a very popular option, as the 4L80e had just been introduced, and was pushed heavily by dealers.
And yes, finding a cast top cover (and trans) for $200 shoud be pretty easy; in fact I have a couple I would gladly sell for $200.

Read the thread I highlighted earlier, it will shed some light on the differences and thus the scarcity of the aluminum cover.
