Curious is anyone knows whats causing that chatter I'm experiencing. Its loudest/ happens most commonly under cruise at highway speeds where I'm on a downhill. Typically i'm under very light throttle when it happens. If I step on it again it goes away or if I let off completely it goes away.

Any ideas?

And yes...Ive got enough fluid in her

I didn't look at your build, but if you have a 205 in it, maybe your drive shaft angle is off a tiny bit. I have read somewhere on here that 205 ' s like to amplify the noise. I believe mine does just that. Do you have a lift or is your carrier bearing rubber toast? Just throwing stuff out there.

Could be a couple things. In addition to what 6872xtc said, I had the same issue on my NV4500/205 where the idler shaft inside the 205 had way too much end play and would hop around at cruise speed with slight tip-in of the throttle. If you have an early 465 with the sleeve between the trans and tcase with a lot of spline slop can also be a contributing factor....or even a combination of all.

Very similar thing happens to me in my trail rig. But only when in 4wd. If I'm above 15 mph or so and let off the throttle, it chatters. But if I hit the gas, it goes away.

Still haven't figured it out

Its back by a 208. And I'm sure the transfercase is less than solid, but the noise seem to be coming from tranny.

I also get these random instances of Non-engagement followed by a quick slam into gear. Pretty sure only it only happens in second gear. It seems liek thats coming from the transfercase though.

An eventual rebuild will happen, but its all working... For now:rolleyes:
