I'm considering a 465/205 combo as a lower cost alternative to repairing my 4500. - Yeah crazy idea.

Q: how have the SM465 held up behind BBC's? 32 spline combos are very rare and I'm concerned about blowing 10 spline couplers or mainshafts.

I have a 10 spline 465 behind a 454. Behind the 465 is a doubler. So far so good, but its only been one trip.

i rape my 465 w/ my 454... i have broke a t-case adapter, but no tranny, t-case problems...

darn near unbreakable, i'm sure this is why they came stock behind BBCs for so many years. They do have the drawback of no overdrive though. Bada** low 1st gear, but not good highway gearboxes

I have heard of alot of poeple breaking the t-case adaptors but never the trans behind big blocks

i have also seen one used like a damn race car..

buddy of mine abused the hell out og it..no breakage:D

So far so good with mine and let's just say I don't go easy with the skinny pedal:D But I would think of this as a downgrade if you're used to a nv4500, I only dream about a fifth gear as I cruise the highway at 2600 rpm.....

Yeah and rcamacho's truck has 4.56's and last I saw 33's...which puts the cruise rpm at 3017 rpm at 65 mph without overdrive. :eek1: :eek1:

yeah durability is no issue. driveability is what i'd be worried about
