my sm465 stuck in 1st gear but it seems to be in neutral also, the shifter wont budge, moves side to side but wont come outa gear... any ideas, i guess ill pull it out and check whats wrong....

First thing I'd check is whether or not the clutch is fully disengaging.
The shifter pulled up out of the rails..... Pull the boot, turn the sheet metal retainer 1/4 turn counter clockwise, pull the shifter out, using a long screwdriver and a flashlight, look in the shifter hole ands you should see the rails aren't lined up, line the rails up so that there is a rectangle hole made by all of the rails, reistall shifter!

Had to do this 2 weekends ago after i spent forever trying to figure out WTF was up with it.
Ok guys i will try that, sounds good i hope its that easy. My other prob is also the clutch got real stiff and doesnt work, does that sound like the thro out bearing exploded or more like the clutch..? I know its not easy to tell me without seeing it... ill get to it this week. Is there any way to keep the trans from getting jammed again..?
