Hi all,

A while back I saw a post that showed detailed pics on how to repair the loose shifter in my sm465. I am pretty sure I saw it on these forums, but maybe I found it elsewhere on the net? I have searched the k5 site the last two days trying to find it, but cant! Wondering if anyone knows where in the forums I found this. I remember there being several images showing the actual spot that needed welding. I think I need to weld a bead or something. If anyone knows a link it would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to get this annoying loose shifter fixed today! It has gotten progressively looser since I first bought the truck a few years ago.

I have a 1981 K3500 4 door single rear wheel 454/sm465/np205/D60/14B FF/4.56/6" suspension lift/35" BFG AT's. Use it for work daily, daily drive it and not afraid to 'wheel with it!

Thanks for any help you can provide on the loose shifter fix.

 to all K5'ers!

Doing what that article says helps a little but you have to remember that it is a truck transmission and will never shift like a corvette. It helped a tiny bit when I did it to mine but it is still pretty sloppy
