SM465 mods

Going to be replacing my shift forks in my 465, any mods that can be done easily while I am in there? would like it to shift faster and not come out of Granny when I let off the gas.

coming out of gear when you let off the gas? Never heard of that. I would say its a synchro problem but granny is unsynchronized. If your trans is all good on the inside you can shift it plenty fast. I used to shift my K5 one like it was a car trans. Heck all that throw just means more momentum on the shift /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

The shift forks are pretty wore, I am hopeing that this fixes everything. I may just put my other in there and try it out. Also what is the best Hydrolic setup for these, my clutch fork slipped out of place when I had my blazer crossed up, and started hitting the pressure plate, now I get to replace everything.

'85+ C/K clutch stuff is what you want for hydraulic.

will it work with my bellhousing? or will I need a new one?

nope you need the bellhousing too. the bracket for the slave cylinder is make on to the bellhousing.

I think advanced adapters makes a bolt on bracket to use your bellhousing with a slave cylinder. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

never been confirmed, haven't found any that expressly say they will work with a truck setup. I'd just get original equipment bellhousing and all. Much easier to replace parts afterall.

why would it be a 'syncro problem' in any gear?
once the gear is engaged the syncros do nothing but float along for the ride
the problem is as always lack of engagement, most likely due to the worn $hift fork$

I am useing the AA slave braket on my 454/465/205 setup /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I am still installing the engine so don't have it in yet but the 'hold it into place' test seams like it will work well. I have an old cast bell, factory 72, that it is going on. Oh and I got the one to be used with a Toyota LandCruser slave w/GM master...Fun STuff /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
