SM465 output spline count

Does anyone know when the sm465 4wd version changed from 10 spline to 32 spline? I have an 83 and found a 74 465/205. I was going to grab the 465 to rebuild it then put it in my truck. Mine is popping out of 3rd gear. On a different note, will an NV4500 out of a later model 4x4 work with a 208 case?

The 465/205 combo changed to 32 spline in '85 (along with the introduction on the hydro pedals and short, round pattern adapters). The 465/208 combo, available beginning in '81, was always 32 spline.
