What is the spline count for sm465 trannies that have a np208 bolted up behind them?
I searched and didn't find too much...

nevermind found it... 10 spline, right? What kind of machining would it take to convert it to 32 spline? How can I make a np203 from a th-400 bolt up?

Yeah I just read that on ORD's site. What would it take to put a th-400 version np203 behind it? Possible?

pulled from the ord site

2: Use a SM465 that was originally mated to an NP208 transfer case. This 465 will have a 32 spline output shaft with a 8 3/8" adapter housing. You'll use a NP203 gearbox with a 32 spline input gear and the face of the 203 drilled and tapped with the GM round bolt pattern to match up to the factory 208 adapter housing. This works very well if you have the available length in the vehicle since the parts are commonly available and the 32 spline connection is very strong and durable.

Ah, thanks TJ. So the th-400 version np203 will have 32 splines right? Then I just need to drill and tap the bolt pattern onto the sm465 case, then it's ready? Will this be very strong? I looked from where you pulled that, and it says:
3. Use the factory SM465 to NP203 adapter housing with ORD's new 32 spline SM465 output shaft and a 32 spline input gear in the NP203. This allows the shortest overall length with the highest strength, most durable spline connection.
Except that method needs machining, and I don't have a shop near by that machines stuff like that.
Method 2 I guess i'll use!

You redrill the front face of the NP203 so it has the same pattern as the 208. The 208 adapter you have is your template ;) Strength should be no different than stock.

The other way (using the SM465/203 adapter) is essentially the same for strength, but the adapter is not common. The main benefit is it ends up shorter overall, but comes at a price.
