Can you mount a np 205 to a sm 465 that's from a 208 combo...
Are the output shafts different on the sm465?

Thanks in advance.

From what I know, the SM465/208 had a 32 spline input/output.

The newer 205s, with round bolt pattern such as off of a th400 has a 32spline input. So yes, those will work.

However if you have an older 205 or older SM465 they will/can have 10spline input/outputs.

If that be the case, there is no way to mate them. Because the 32 spline output is long enough to go straight into the case, thus eliminating a coupler and or adaptive coupler.

I went down that route once, and was dissapointed. It is possible to change a 205 to the 32spline input, but it requires custom machinging and bearings.

Yes, you can. The factory did it from 1985-91. You need a round pattern NP205, which is relatively easy to find, and the adapter, which is very scarce.

Thanks guys!!! :D

Yes, it's the 32 spline shaft...
I guess I'm keep this for a spare trans for my 1 ton tow rig.
