Hey guys, I'm getting ready to tear into my tranny but keep reading about needing a bearing puller to remove the rear counter gear bearing. Any ideas on what type/style and where to acquire one? or is there an easy trick or something?

Just bumping this one back up cuz I really need some advice on which puller to use, i got a bearing seperator/puller kit from harbor freight that didnt even come close to working. here's the picture of what they use in the rebuild manual:

if you where closer, i could help ya. but here are some ideas.
do you know anybody that works at a gm, or chrysler dealership? possibly ford.

if you do, and they will let you, take youre trans over there and look at thier special tools until you find one that will work.

the other option is find out what the part numbers are for the factory tools, and watch ebay, alot of deales went under lately, and the special tools are getting auctioned off really cheap. ecspecially odd stuff like transmission tools.
and dont try harbor frieght junk on a real transmission, the trans will win every time.

otherwise, sorry man, good puller tools are expensive, and even most shops dont have a good selection. i have bought alot of them over the years, but sometimes the factory tool is the only way to go.
