does anybody have any advice on pulling this bad boy out, i'm trying to figure out the easiest way to go about doing this, any suggestions?

if removable dog house/tranny cover in the cab then pull it and use cherry picker.

thay are a heavy unit and vary hard to get with a floor jack as the bottom is not flat. and if tcase is still on it then your over 400 lbs and long to try and balence.

If the tranny tunnel is removable and the tranny has a NP205 attached to it a single strap around the T-case adapter is about the perfect balance point for removal from the top using a cherry picker. At least it was for me the three or four times I removed and re-installed my old SM 465/NP205.

Even with a 208 it should be pretty close.

This is with no bellhousing attached, I remove that later and it's only four bolts to split the tranny from the bell. Not only that, but the bell is infinitely easier to unbolt with the tranny out of the way.

If you have access build an adaptor that bolts to trans and then bolts to floor jack.

I've built many for different transmissions and t cases

i think i'm going to build an adapter so that my jack will bolt up to it and i'm seperating the NP205 from the tranny so its not so long or heavy, a few of my buddys are going to help me remove it tomorrow, these guys each can lift 200 dead weight easy so this shouldn't be too hard *crossing my fingers*

I've yanked one out with the NP205 still attached using a floor jack with the tranny adapter that slides in place of the usual saddle--I bolted the adapter plate on the jack to the crossemember and removed it all as one unit..

Once at a friends house we did a clutch in his 4x4,and he had no jack or engine hoist--e removed the floor hump and put a doubled up 2x6 across the cab, by rolling the windows down and lying them in top of the doors, and we used a small chain falls to support the tranny enough to slide it back away from the bellhousing...I've used a engine hoist before on one truck too,we remoed the passenger side door to make it easier to get it in there...one guy I know used a chain falls on a tree branch, with the chain coming in thru his sun roof to lower his tranny and T-case out !...lots of ways you can do it,just be careful, the SM465 and a NP205 are both heavy ingots and will crush fingers and arms FLAT if you get them in the wrong spo,or they drop suddenly...!...

well time didn't allow me to pull it today but i did get the tunnel cover off, everything connected to the tranny and transfer case, i disconnected my clutch linkage but for some reason i couldn't fully remove the bell crank, i got it to come off of the bell housing but its still connected to the frame, ideas?

Ben awhile since I messed with one,but I think the bracket the bell crank goes too on the drivers side frame rail has a slotted hole,so once you loosen the nut on the ball stud,it can be slid up and out of the bracket...

okay well i've had a few set backs, the house is being remodeled so the k5 got put back on hold, if all goes well i'll beable to do some wrenching either tomorrow or on monday, the rainy season started so i'm competing against that, might just invest in a tarp haha
