I feel kind of dumb, but I can't figure out how to get the shifter off of my sm465 so I can put it in. I read in a search that you just push down on the shifter and turn and it'll pop right out, but I can't get it to do anything:angry1:. I messed with it for about 30 minutes yesterday and I know it's something simple I'm probably missing, so what is it?:dunno: What's the trick?

push down on the ball part between the lever and the housing, then twist. It can be a pain at times.

There is a collar/ring around the stick where it goes into the tower. Press it down (towards the ground) and twist it counter clockwise about 1/8-1/4 turn.

Those aren't set screws, they are pins. That's what that collar locks onto, do not try to remove them. As said before, the little metal cover is spring loaded. Push downward and turn it counterclockwise.
