sm465 to 454 question

Will a sm465 transmission removed from a 1976 chevy 3/4 ton truck originally equiped with a 350 small block bolt up to a 454 big block? The reason I'm asking is that I don't want to sell my buddy a transmission that he can't use. Thanks for any and all responses.

Yes it will bolt up and work fine however he will need a flywheel specifically for a 454. The 350 flywheel will not work.

In short.....YES. Chevys pretty much used the same bellhousing bolt pattern for all SBCs and BBC's. Some of the later stuff is different.

Your buddy will need a 454 specific flywheel instead of the 350 version since the 454 is externally balanced.
