Got a strange bearing issue. Seems like a humming noise. Does it with clutch in or out, moving or not. Clutch in or out. Just had it out and couldn't find any thing wrong. Any ideas? 79 sm465

Well,if its making noise with the clutch disengaged ,with it in gear ,then nothing inside the transmission is moving TO make noise,I'd assume it was the pilot bushing or bearing,or throwout bearing making the noise, not the trans--...the throwout bearing should only make noises if the clutch pushed towards the floor too, otherwise it shouldn't be rotating..

What type of clutch adjustment is there?

Is it hydraulic and self-adjusting?

Is it mechanical and too tight?

I don't recognize if you've posted the Y M M and engine size - and in this situation, the type of transmission/clutch.

It might be the throwout bearing is still touching the release arms/diaphragm and spinning. I can't think of much else that's moving with the clutch IN and the transmission in gear and the vehicle is standing still.

New throw out bearing and new pilot bushing. Old machcanical

Got to be it. Throw out bearing still touching. This is the truck where you had to push it to the floor to shift. Put a Novak adjustable pivot ball in it and is been working. I'll readjust the arm again and try that. Just don't want to go back to pushing beyond the dimmer switch.

Is the coiled spring that holds the shift fork up against the threaded adjuster rod missing?

FYI sm465/205

I'm sorry.... but that makes no sense to me. Perhaps it's a cryptic code of which I am not privy.

sm = small or .... I don't recognize that.
.
465 could be a cubic inch displacement, but not likely.

205 could be an intake valve diameter, not likely either I think.

Maybe it's a phone number....... SM-46-5205 Ring two

SM465 MEANS: Saginaw Michigan/ Model 465 transmission

205 MEANS: Model 205 transfer case. Also known as NP205, which means New Process / Model 205 transfer case.

Even worse--try deciphering a personals ad online..so many abbreviations..everything from SYM to LYGBT to S&M,to God knows what!..it's no wonder I'm still single..:dunno:..

You will understand it more after the truck disease takes over your logic more....

I pause more with things like "FYI"...
I save that disease for my '89 Isuzu Amigo. The Blazer is more utility than anything else.

I built a locomotive out of it for towing reasons.

I'd sure like to find a camper to slip into the back of it though - but not likely a $$$$Chalet$$$$
