I have parted a few axles and most had small bearing spindles, but I always put away the hubs, now I am looking at a bunch and was wondering, are they the same but the bearing is different?
I was going to scrap them because the spindles are mostly gone for FORD and JEEP guys, and I have no use for the hubs.
Anyone can confirm?

What type axle ? 44 /60 10 bolt ?

I have a Ford D44 HP that I wouldn't mind having a set of spare hubs for if the shipping wasn't too outrageous....

They are D44 hubs.
I will check on shipping, but I am sure a $15 large flat rate will take care of 2 hubs, but I will see if they fit in a medium.

The Big Hub 3/4 ton 44 uses the same Inner and outers as the the later 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton Dana 44's and 10-bolt fronts

Only the 75 and earlier ( maybe 76 can't remember off hand) 1/2 tons had the smaller inner spindle bearing.

It is 76 and earlier, I have one set from a 76 and one set from a 75.
To be clear, only the spindle is smaller, but the hub is the same?
It looks like it is but I want to confirm.

Hub is the same spindle is different its inner bearing is smaller diamater

Thanks. :waytogo:
I figured I let the fingers do the work in the warmth of my home instead of going out and taking them appart and breaking out the calipers and measuring.
I know I am lazy, but it's low 30's and unlike Alaskan's that is cold for me.:eek1:

No problem! I went through that whole mess on my 75 K10 Stepside, was the last time I bought parts from Autozone .......

Hey they don't fit any flat rate box.
Give me your zip so I see how much it will be, they are 20lbs for a pair so it shouldn't be more than $20 or so for shipping.
Are you somewhere in TX?

The hubs ARE DIFFERENT between small and large bearing spindles. This was just covered recently in another thread somewhere on here.

OK now I am going to have to pull the bearings out and measure.
On the outside all the dimmensions are the same, so I am assuming the inside is machined bigger to take a bigger bearing, which means that the smaller bearing hubs have more meat in them, and could be candidates for big bearing hubs.
I wonder if we will ever get to the point where the big bearing hubs are scarce and it's worth it to machine the small bearing hubs to big? :dunno:
