I installed a serpentine from a 1993 c1500 in my 1975 gmc jimmy can I use my old power steering pump because high pressure hose line from 1993 pump do not fit my gear box any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

I would say yes...I've replaced my pump and used the pulley from the serp setup and it works fine.

ditto..put the serpentine pulley on the old pump or just get a new high pressure hose made with the correct fitting end for the old steering box. If it was me I'd do the hose. any decent hose place will have the stuff to do it.. The 93 pump is more likely a better pump.

The bracket fits any Saginaw style pump. Use the one that fits the lines. No need to make custom lines.

Just a heads up on the later pumps being better.. Some of the Saginaw pumps on the Vortec small blocks (96 and up 5.0 or 5.7) had electric variable orifice steering. The main difference was a electric valve on the output of the pump that don't match up to normal stuff.

Donno about that new a pump, but the 70's and 80's pumps are basically the same, just the output fitting is different. If the can (reservoir) on your new one looks like the old, you should be able to remove the fitting off the back with a 1" wrench or socket and swap.

I could be wrong, it's happened once or twice, and if you have an electrically variable orifice, which just sounds kinky, all best are off.

if press on pulley yes will swap .

but need correct length bolts for old pump American thread to aluminum serp belt bracket thickness difference .

water pump and fan are both reverse rotation .

old to new alt will be different body style . but you can get a 105 amp unit factory on serp belt units. the plug in pig tail is different also .

thermostat housing is kicked off a bit different position to clear the support bracket/rods .

Thank you all for the extremely useful info I got it up and running today

Here's what I did...

Well, this weekend, I "finished" the new (1998 Vortec 5.7) serpentine belt install. I ran into a couple of issues as I mentioned previously. I (with the help of a AutoZone manager) tracked down a perfect passenger pointing water outlet. This will be very important later when I move to the Edelbrock (7138 Pro Flo XT) intake.

I say "finished" because it is now at least drivable/dependable for it to be my daily driver again. I'm still not happy with the upper radiator hose. When it's running, the weight of the water causes it to droop into the path of the spinning fan. I'm planning on getting an upper radiator support from LMC. For now, I just bent some aluminum stock I had lying around, used an existing hole in the radiator support. This just keeps the hose out of the fan. Oh well... it's not Art... but it will work for now.

I'm not in any hurry to solder the alternator lead to the existing 1984 K10 wire harness, so I only used a wire nut for the exciter wire lead. At some point, as the EFI comes into play, I'll be using the lead from the ECM to control my alternator.
