Thought I was going to avoid this problem but I guess not.

So hoping to fire up the jimmy this weekend and want to roll it out of the garage so I don’t burn my house down, but the jimmy is too tall. I thought it would squat down enough with the motor and trans to come out but I need about 1 more inch of clearance. I can deflate the tires to get that inch and winch it out with the Jeep, but I don’t know how to get it back in. I don’t think pushing it with deflated tires will do it.

So just wondering, maybe for now or future, what is the smallest, cheapest tire I can get to fit on the 16” rollers I’m on. The current tires are 30-31”.

You have lots of choices--many cars use 205/55/16 tires that are almost as small in diameter as a space saver spare..

I had 4 of those given to me,I tried putting them on my K2500 ,on spare rims, just for the heck of it..the diff housings were about 3" off the ground,so it wouldn't be wise for street use!..plus their load rating was probably maxed out with the truck's empty weight on them too..

It looked like a low rider, and I did take it up the road a ways just for the heck of it,it cornered like it was on rails, but rode like it had dead axles..
I took them off and saved them for my sister's Toyota..

Ahh didn’t think about ratcheting the suspension. Gonna put the top back on top to see if that little bit of weight helps

Stock rear springs are really soft and the hardtop does make a noticeable difference in height. Recently mine was too tall (in back) to get out of the garage. Installed 200+ lbs of bumper and spare tire and the back came down about an inch. You can always pile junk in there and lower it faster than going to pick up spare wheels. If you have Rough Country front springs it might take a lot, though.

Got ORD front springs and tuff country rears. Shouldn’t be too hard to squat it down an inch. Got some bumpers that should be good for over 200lbs, top is ~ 200lbs and pops is a svelt 275lb.

Yeah I used to have to do the steel wheel only thing. Easy to do burn outs on just the rim. Find some used 16" car tires if they exist still. They would be plenty short on a 16x6 or 7 wide rim.
