you have to remember that big truck emmissions are not as tuff as cars. through some axel gear in there, get new plugs, and run some premium before you take it to the smog shop. make sure all the emission stuff is there, if you fail once you have to get it checked by the big boys, so make sure it passes the first time.

What gears are better? Higher or lower? It's got 4.10s with tiny tires now

I know regs aren't as tuff...my truck doesn't require cats. Might put some on to get it to pass. I took it for a test run at a friend's place, failed. Since then I've hooked up the smog pump, new plugs, wires, snake oil in the tank and oil, octane booster, just gotta rebuild the carb and try again, right after a nice hot lap.
