Smog pump

Will the smog pump thing on my 83 come off without removing the alternator ? dont wanna pull all that stuff off if i dont have to. need to get it outta the way so i can replace my fuel pump

Yep, you will have to unscrew the bottom bolt that holds part of it in but the alternator wont come off or anything, then there is one bolt in the exhaust manifold.

Thanks... its removed now pulley wasnt even on it from the PO

i realize you're already done, but...

you shouldn't have to remove the smog pump bracket or anything. i pulled mine out for good a few months ago. and you shouldn't have to pull the smog pump to install the fuel pump. i installed mine and later replaced it with the smog pump in place. just fyi

I think it just makes it easier to get to the fuel pump, but you dont have to pull it, I pulled all my emissions stuff for the sake of getting rid of it.
