So, i just moved.

I've heard some counties and zip codes require smog check, some don't.

How do i know what i fall under, other than waiting for the notification?

I may or may not have blazer purchase coming up, so this is getting important......:doah:

hit up the DMV is my guess

though I've never heard of a CA county that didn't smog, thought that was other states

I hadn't either, but i guess some of the less populated ones don't require testing.

Yep, the ones listed in that DMV link is what to go by, but you need to first pass an initial smog test in that county once you register it there - then you can pollute at will. :D

I just wish the visual part wasn't needed.

I would put LS motors in everything, easy and beyond beneficial.
My truck would run cleaner and use less fuel, but no, it has to be original looking. OR go crazy trying to adapt the new stuff.

Most of the Eastern mountainous counties don't require smog, and some counties way up north. Not sure about down there in the desert, like Barstow, Death Valley areas.

Yep, our place in El Dorado doesn't require smog :D

I had a friend in truckee that said he didn't need to smog his car :dunno:

How would they pass a sniffer up there anyway? Unless it's a visual only....which is doubtful.

PO box in the state of nevada?

DMV won't believe you. Mike 'TheBeat88K5' went through that.

If however you get a private mailbox at a place like The UPS Store in the appropriate county, then have them forward the mail, apparently "PMB xxx" doesn't set off flags for the DMV.
